The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary
« on: September 05, 2010, 08:39:34 PM »
We visited The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary recently and if you like seabirds, then you should visit also!  Admission is FREE, but they need donations to feed and care for all of the birds they rescue.  The Gulf of Mexico oil spill has really kept them busy this Summer.

Speaking of the Gulf of Mexico, if you're walking the beach in Indian Shores, then you can enter the Sanctuary from the beach.  The main entrance sits at 18328 Gulf Boulevard, Indian Shores, Fl 33785 727-391-6211 or 727-391-2473.

The non-profit Seabird Sanctuary is the largest wild bird hospital in the USA based on the 8,000 birds that they help annually. They
saved so many oily birds from death this Summer, that their efforts should be applauded by everyone who loves birds.  A lot of the cleaned and rehabilitated birds from the oil spill region were released right here in Tampa Bay.

Here's a quote of statistics from their website...
