Golf Courses and Discounts / Belleair Country Club
« on: February 12, 2010, 11:25:02 AM »
The Belleair Country Club is my favorite private course because it's the only one I can get on!  My parents have had a membership there for almost two decades.  They have two 18 hole championship courses and it's always in great shape.  The greens are sooo fast there and you need to avoid the fairway bunkers at all costs!

Below is a picture from last month when I knocked it stiff with a 5 iron on #12, a 170 yard par 3 on the West Course.  It rolled right past the hole and I wish it went in for a hole-in-one.  Unfortunately I missed the 4 foot "downhill-slider" birdie putt, dammit.

My brother Dan almost had a hole-in-one that day on the 200 yard par 3 #8.  His shot stopped a foot from the hole and of course he made that birdie putt.

Golf Courses and Discounts / Bloomingdale Golfers Club
« on: February 12, 2010, 08:59:16 AM »
The Bloomingdale Golfers Club is located in Valrico, FL which is off of I-75 south of I-4, on the east side of Tampa Bay.  Last Winter they spent the big bucks and they put in brand new greens.  We played it right after the new greens were ready in July and they had a special promotion for two weeks.  On that Saturday we got to play 18 for only 9 dollars!  What a deal!

Bloomingdale has a fabulous driving range, pitching green with sand traps and a huge putting green, so it's a great place to practice your game.  Check them out at the link below.

Golf Courses and Discounts / Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club
« on: February 11, 2010, 11:22:35 PM »
The Bardmoor Golf Course is simply fabulous!  I've enjoyed it every time I've played there and they have some classic Florida golf holes.  Some holes are short, some holes are too long and some have too much water, but each hole is a memorable challenge.  It's located in the middle of Pinellas County in Largo.  Their greens are usually fast and they putt true.  In the winter the green fees are pretty pricey, but it's a bargain in the summer.  For more information click the link below.

Golf Courses and Discounts / The Florida Golf Trail
« on: February 11, 2010, 11:09:38 PM »
Become an insider on the Florida Golf Trail and you can receive discount golf at 9 Tampa Bay Golf Courses.  Click the link below to see the list, and you can follow in my footsteps on some of those courses.  Follow me into the ponds, woods, sand traps, rough and some other places you never knew existed on a golf course!  LOL!

Just kidding, I can shoot in the high 80s on any of these courses on a typical day.  I have played Bardmoor, Bloomingdale, Lansbrook and Northdale, so that's 4 out of the 9 courses.  They're all great Tampa Bay golf courses, except for 2 that are in other states.  Many of the 4 have upgraded their greens, cut down trees and generally spruced up the place for the Florida Golf Trail, so check them out at the link below.

We've had a cold winter, the coldest in a long time so a lot of the grass is dormant and brown right now, but it will green up real soon!

Day Trips, Weekends and More! / Daytona 500 and other races at the Speedway
« on: February 11, 2010, 06:55:48 PM »
Visiting the Daytona International Speedway for a race is a good time I hear.  I have never been there, so I don't know for sure.  However, NASCAR and INDY car racing is very popular and I try to watch it on TV a little.  At least on TV you get to see replays of the crashes!  LOL!

After the race, I see on the TV News that people drive too fast trying to get out of there and you can be in your own crash if you're not careful.  I saw that the traffic getting out of there is difficult at best.  Bumper to bumper traffic from Daytona Beach to Orlando down I-4 is a problem every year on TV.

Businesses and Websites / is my business!
« on: February 11, 2010, 06:38:20 PM » is my business! Digital to Slides or Film scanned to digital is what we do!  Visit our website below for more information.

We take your digital images and print them onto color slide film inexpensively with a device called a film recorder.

We can also scan your existing color or B&W film (any size film, transparencies or negatives) into digital images and then put them onto a DVD to play as a show on your TV.  Or we can put them onto a CD for use on your computer.  Or you can download them from our website and save the burning a CD fee.

We can also convert your existing digital images into the Zapplication format needed by many art shows.

Our main clientel are artists and students who need slides of their artwork for art shows, craft shows and college applications.  We also serve people who need PowerPoint slides.  Even if you have PowerPoint on your laptop, what if the video projector doesn't work with your laptop?  Most of our clients use the slides as a backup to use in a slide projector because most conference venues have slide projectors.  Many clients also keep a permanent version of their presentation on slides for their records and their portfolio.

General Discussion / How to post a message with pictures.
« on: February 11, 2010, 06:18:52 PM »
If you would like to post pictures with your message, then here are a few instructions:

1.) Resize your pictures to no more than 600 pixels wide at 72 dpi.  Do a File Menu > Save As and rename it or your original picture will be lost forever.  If your image is larger than 600 pixels wide then it won't be completely visible and the right side will be cut off.  Doing this will also make your images load quickly.  Take note of where you saved the images.

2.) Choose the appropriate category on the front page of the message board.  If you want to suggest a new category, email and request it.  We'll put it up just for you!

3.) Once you're in the proper category, click the "New Topic" link on the right side of the category.  Type your Subject line, change the message icon if you like and type the body of your message.  Brag about your business, review a place, tell us about your vacation, whatever you want.  You can even post links to your website.

4.) Click the "Additional Options" below the text box and click the button next to "Attach:" to Choose your File.  Navigate your computer to find your resized photos.  Click the first one to attach it.

5.) To add more photos, click the link that says "(more attachments)" several times.  You can add up to 10 images per message.

6.) Click the post button and wait for your images to upload.

7.) Review your message and click your images to make sure they work.

8.) Click your link to make sure it's correct.

9.) To make changes, click the "Modify" link in the upper right corner of your message.

10.) Post your message only once.  Don't cross-post it in all of the categories or it will be considered spam and we will delete all but one of them.

11.) If your message is totally off-topic and if it has nothing to do with the Tampa Bay Area or with Florida in general, i.e. spam, then we'll delete your message and ban you from this message board.

Thank you and Enjoy!

Parks / 146 Parks in Tampa
« on: February 11, 2010, 04:09:48 PM »
Wow!  Here's something that I didn't know.  Tampa has 146 parks and you can view them all at the following link.  It also quickly tells you the addresses and to plug into your GPS device and it tells you what amenities are available at each park.  Very cool Tampa!

Parks / Cypress Point Park in Tampa
« on: February 11, 2010, 04:00:36 PM »
A little known park in Tampa is the Cypress Point Park.  It's located where West Cypress Street dead-ends before you run into Tampa Bay.  Turn left at the dead-end and follow the road into the park.

It doesn't have any playgrounds for the kids, but it's a great place to have a picnic.  There are several pavilions that you can probably reserve or just take one if no one is there.  They have grills there to use as well, and a sign said that you can't take your own grill.  Which is just as well, because where will you dump the hot coals and who wants a smoke smelling grill in your car anyways?

It does have a real nice beach overlooking Tampa Bay, public restrooms, drinking fountains and a real nice beach volleyball court out by the parking lot.  Dogs must be kept on a leash but no dogs are allowed on the beach.

Check out the photos below by clicking them to make them larger.  Here's a link with more info below.
